About Our Staff

Sherry has worked in childcare for over 40 years. She was inspired to work in childcare when she was in high school, She used to volunteer at the daycare centre at her highschool. She's had a passion for working with kids ever since.

Perla has been working at SECDCC since 2018 as a substitute and decided to get her ECE certification the following year. Her love for working with children began in 2014 when she was working at the EXCEL childcare program and discovered what she wanted to do as a career. Although she now mainly works in the office, she still enjoys to be involved in the classrooms with the staff and children.

• Cindy has been working in childcare for over 30 years. She studied at St Joseph's. Cindy was inspired to pursue a career in childcare after she took a child studies course in high school.
• Kenzie has been working at SECDCC for 3 years, but has 9 years of experience in childcare. She studied at NSCC. She started volunteering at camps when she was 12, and was inspired to pursue a career in childcare because of one of her counsellors. 

• Shona has been in childcare for 33 years. She studied at St Joseph's and later did her work placement at SECDCC. Shona had always wanted to work with kids when she was young and knew she would pursue a career that involved children. 
• Erin has been working in childcare for 36 years. She started working at SECDCC during the summer at the age of 17 while she was a student. After graduating she decided to stay and become an educator because she loved it so much. 
• Bern has been in childcare for 28 years. She studied at St Joseph's, and did her placement at SECDCC and has stayed ever since. She started babysitting at a young age and realized she wanted to pursue a career that involved children.  

• Colleen is celebrating her 40th year in childcare this year. She studied at St. Joseph's. She was inspired to pursue a career in childcare from her high school child studies class.
• Brenda has worked in childcare for 40 years. She's always loved working with kids and was inspired to pursue childcare because of her large family.
• Kristin has been working in childcare for 40 years. She was inspired to become an educator because of her mother, who was also a teacher.

• Jenny has 42 years of experience in childcare. She studied at St Joseph's. When she was in high school she used to help her grade 12 teacher with the primaries, her guidance counsellor noticed how good she was with them and recommended she pursue a career in childcare, this was her inspiration to become an educator. 
• Omaima started working at SECDCC last year, and is currently enrolled at NSCECE. She started working with kids in after school programs 3 years ago. Her passion for working with kids came from having a large family and taking care of her many cousins and younger brother from a young age. 

• Chloe is our chef at SECDCC. She studied culinary arts at Fanshawe College, and Food and Nutrition at Fleming College. She has worked in the food industry since 2014. In 2023, She studied early childhood at the National Institute for Lifelong Education in Korea. She loves working with kids because of the joy, curiosity and creativity they bring to life.
